Redemption Collegiate

Known. Grown. On Mission.

Redemption Collegiate is the college ministry of Redemption at Marshall University, with the goal of connecting students to the church by knowing them and making Christ known to them, growing them in their faith, and sending them out on mission.

Known: Everyone desires to be known. First and most important we want our students to know and be known by Jesus. We seek to make our students known by connecting them to their peers and connecting them to the people of Redemption Church.

Grown: The Christian life is all about following Jesus. To follow Jesus is to grow in Christlikeness. We seek to grow our students through college specific means, Gospel Community groups, and other avenues within our church such as discipleship and gender specific groups.

On Mission: Life is all about following Jesus. To follow Jesus is to be on mission for Jesus. Not just during but long after college. We seek to help our students see themselves as missionaries in the many contexts the Lord will place them in.

Ministry Avenues

Our Students: We believe our most important ministry avenue is to equip our students to live missionally where they already are. This method will have a much greater impact than any event we could put on.

Being Present On Campus: We will accomplish this by having events and having a connect table on campus at various times. We are also thankful for the many biblical campus ministries at Marshall and will seek to partner with them as the local church whenever possible.

Monthly Socials: We want to provide spaces for our students to build deeper community amongst themselves, and to use these socials as an avenue of evangelism to bring their friends into our community in an easy way.

Share Meals: This will happen in many ways, including Sunday Lunch, where we will either go to a Redemption host family’s home or out to eat together.

Conferences/Retreats: We will attend Cross Con in Louisville, KY over winter break. This is a gospel and missions focused multi-day conference.

Bible & Book Studies: These will take place in both the college and the church context.

Discipleship: Discipleship is the primary mission of the Church. Discipleship can happen in many different ways, but its purpose will always be to help others grow in Christlikeness.

Service: One of the greatest avenues for sharing the gospel is service. We seek to provide our students with opportunities to tangibly share Christ through service projects.

Mission Trips: We seek to provide opportunities for students to share Christ in contexts outside of their everyday lives.
Don Roberts leads the college ministry of Redemption Church. He graduated from Marshall with a B.A. in Sport Management and Marketing. Don has led within campus ministries for over 10 years. Before coming on staff with Redemption, he served with the campus ministry Cru at Marshall for over 5 years.

Don is passionate about college ministry because college is a major crossroad in people's lives. Many are making decisions such as who will I be away from my parents, who will I marry, and what will my career be.

Don is married to Whitney Roberts and they have one daughter, Grace, and one dog, Cedar. Don likes to play and watch sports, play card/board games and experience new places/things.
